AUREL BAKER

Reno native Aurel Baker describes why Nevada’s rugged and remote landscapes set the stage for the type of outdoor recreation she’s after. Considering Nevada is the most mountainous state in the lower 48 with 300+ named peaks, Aurel describes why resort skiing at Tahoe’s highest base, and dropping a new line in endless ranges of backcountry skiing are always a top priority for her when it comes to outdoor adventure. But, mountain biking and remote fishing are a close second and third; Nevada’s diversity in trails and pristine, low pressure river and streams are tough to beat. When you distance yourself from the comforts of home and get off the beaten path, it’s not hard to get in touch with Nevada’s solid outdoor adventure situation. The choice is clear, Nevada is definitely the place to disconnect from it all and drop off grid into some untouched adventure experiences.

JOHN WRIGHT

Growing up in Elko, John Wright wanted to be a rodeo cowboy, store owner and rancher, just like his grandfather. At 36, he has achieved those goals and runs the family business, J.M. Capriola Co., a Western gear store in downtown Elko. Dating back to 1929, Capriola's still makes saddles and other leather items by hand on the shop's second floor - a tradition Wright is proud to continue. He is also one of the driving forces behind the Cowboy Arts and Gear Museum, a few doors down from Capriola's. Click to listen why its important for Wright to remain a Guardian of Tradition.

STEVE STAFFORD

There are very few areas that are as unspoiled as northeastern Nevada, and for Steve Safford, it’s the crown jewel of the state. As the owner of Ruby Mountain Brewing Company, Safford jokes that they’ve mastered “bales, beef and beer,” out at Angel Creek Ranch, just south of Wells, Nevada. Here, Safford raises angus beef cattle and specialty hay for horses, and is proud to brew one of Nevada’s best beers. In one of the ranch’s outbuildings visitors will find no formal tasting room or restaurant, but a great place to sit down and have a taste of Ruby Mountain Amber Ale, right out of the tap. With a perfect view of the Rubies, time spent here brings a whole new meaning to "drinking it all in."

Las Vegas native Jeffrey Bennington Grindley knew he simply had to work at Fremont Street’s Atomic Liquors the minute he laid eyes on it. Located in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, Atomic Liquors has certainly seen, and been ingrained in its fair share of Atomic Nevada-meets Rat Pack-meets-Mobster Vintage Vegas ties. For Jeff, nowhere in Vegas is anything like it... listen to hear why.
